NOSFERATU — PHANTOM DER NACHT

Presented by: Hypnos Theatre

October 24, 2025

Friday, 20:00

Director: Werner Herzog

Year: 1979

Runtime: 101 minutes

A real estate agent leaves behind his beautiful wife to go to Transylvania to visit the mysterious Count Dracula and formalize the purchase of a property in Wismar.
Werner Herzog’s masterful contribution to the vampire canon is both a discerning tribute to F W Murnau’s 1922 silent classic, and a singularly atmospheric and thoughtful horror film in its own right. Kinski’s central performance, Herzog’s images and Popul Vuh’s music combine to create a darkly hypnotic and seductive experience.

A Symphony of Horror
Since it premiered in Berlin in March 1922, Murnau’s NOSFERATU – A SYMPHONY OF HORROR remains the most influential vampire film of all time. It may as well be the most iconic horror film ever made, one that continues to capture the imagination to this day. No wonder, it has fascinated countless filmmakers (Herzog, Coppola, Eggers, etc ) who have all offered their own intepretation of the familiar story.
This October we will trace the steps of the most renowned bloodsucker throughout his 100-year existence in film history.
