Ten years have passed since the departure of The Starman, the human-anigma and music icon, David Bowie. His legacy remains far-reaching and is still evident in pop culture today. There is hardly any one of us who hasn’t been affected by his art. This March, we will pay tribute to his artistry by showing two films with and about him.
17:00 | THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH (Nicolas Roeg, 1976, 138′)
The Man Who Fell to Earth is a daring exploration of science fiction as an art form. The story of an alien on an elaborate rescue mission provides the launching pad for Nicolas Roeg’s visual tour de force, a formally adventurous examination of alienation in contemporary life. Rock legend David Bowie, in his acting debut, completely embodies the title role, while Candy Clark, Buck Henry, and Rip Torn turn in pitch-perfect supporting performances.
19:20 – BREAK (30 mins) Doors open to get in/leave.
19:45 | MOONAGE DAYDREAM (Brett Morgen, 2022, 135′)
A cinematic odyssey exploring Bowie’s creative, spiritual and musical journey. From the visionary mind of Brett Morgen, Moonage Daydream features captivating, never-before-seen footage and performances spanning David Bowie’s 54-year career. The film includes 40 exclusively remastered Bowie songs and is the first film ever sanctioned by the Bowie Estate, with local access to the artists’ archives.
