WERCKMEISTER HARMONIES

We began this series of Béla Tarr films to honor his long-time collaborator László Krasznahorkai as 2025’s recipient of the Nobel Prize in Literature.

Heartbroken. We will screen the remainder of the series in celebration and remembrance of Béla Tarr. Our hearts are with Ágnes Hranitzky, Béla’s long-time collaborator and spouse, and László and all of his family and friends and admirers.

Under these circumstances I cannot coerce myself to sell you on attending this screening. If you are in doubt whether this film is for you, take a few moments to look it up. Sátántangó was originally scheduled on this day, but I believe more of you will choose to attend Werckmeister Harmonies. Hopefully, once you have seen the cinematic magic of Béla Tarr, László Krasznahorkai and Ágnes Hranitzky on the screen at Hypnos, you will be convinced to join us again on February 28 for their magnum opus Sátántangó.
