CRIMES AND MISDEMEANORS

This is arguably Woody Allen’s best and most original film. The juxtaposition between comedy and drama is simply sublime.
Two parallel stories, one with Judah (Martin Landau) as a renowned eye doctor driven to extreme measures to preserve his stable family life from hounding threats to expose him and blackmail him by his neurotic mistress. While
the other parallel story line is classic Woody Allen, who plays Cliff, a documentary filmmaker, down on his luck, who is given a job as a favor by his brother-in-law. This hapless and hilarious experience is cleverly inter-cut with the Landau story to great effect.
This film is both frighteningly believable and thought-provoking while delving into deep questions regarding morality and murder. This film is most definitely a must-see!
